International campaign for the immediate release of political prisoners from the dictatorship of Umaro Sissoko Embaló

On 25 May, during a peaceful protest for freedom of expression in Guinea Bissau, Portuguese-Guinean Armando Costa, known as Etiandro, Suelina Pina, Daihama and Jonathan Nanque were arrested.
The demonstrators were arrested while protesting against a government that has remained in power beyond the limits imposed by the Guinean constitution, for freedom of expression, for the end of the dictatorship and for health, education and security.
In view of the threats to Guinean activists, we call on social movements, trade unions and anyone else who wants to join us to make a campaign of solidarity for the release of political prisoners in Guinea, for freedom of expression and for the end of the dictatorship of Umaro Sissoko Embaló. We ask that notes of solidarity be sent to the email: consciencia.negra_2015@outlook.pt.
We also demand that the Portuguese Government and the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, intercede in defence of these activists, guaranteeing their safety, including taking into account that among them is a Portuguese citizen. At the same time, a state that claims to be democratic cannot collude with dictatorships and for this very reason the Portuguese State must break off relations with the dictatorship of Umaro Sissoko Embaló.
